2/3 cup butter
¾ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp vanilla
dry ingredients:
1 ½ cup large flake oats

½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
sprinkle onto dry ingredients any combination of the following to make up 2 cups:
- raisins
- coconut
- dried cranberrries
- chocolate chips
- nuts
- whatever
(I especially like 1 cup cranberries, ½ cup coconut, and ½ cup chocolate chips)
Mix, cover with plastic wrap and chill for about 45 minutes for easy handling.
Form dough into 1-inch balls and flatten onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes until golden.

Haha, that is hilarious...we posted at teh same time exactly *rolling on the floor* oooh, those look GOOD
Hey you're right! That's getting scary - we are starting to think alike.
Hee hee, I certainly don't mind thinking like you, but I don't think you wanna think like me. I'm a bit odd. ;)
I just looked again and now my banana bread recipe is above your oatmeal recipe, but the first time it was reversed. *shakes head and blinks* that's just weird! Blogger is playing mind tricks on me.
Oh, the combination of cranberries, coconut and choco chips does sound really really yummy!
LOL @ "hide from the rest of the family" xD
Odd is good, my dear.
Heeeehee, oh good :)
I love the pictures, I just had an oatmeal cookie, but it for sure DID NOT look like that.
These sounds excellent Barb!
Sadly, that is a stolen picture, Allison, but the cookies in the recipe do look very much like that. Oh God I want an oatmeal cookie right now!
Oatmeal cookies are the best. I like anything oatmeal, but cookies rule. Somehow I don't feel so "bad" when I eat them, like they're o.k. in the treat department. Your recipe looks great - will definitely check it out.
Thanks Deb - I remember that you are an oatmeal fan as well. LOVE OATMEAL! And being an oatmeal connisseur, of course you would only use large flake oatmeal in cookies.
